Rolly's Easter Trip to the Zoo

Easter is never a happy day for dogs. The abundance of chocolate, which dogs shouldn't eat, and the glorification of rabbits who lay eggs infuriate them. In order to keep Rolly's mind from dwelling on these facts, Allison took Rolly to St. Louis for a day of Easter activities. First Allison fed him a great Easter feast. Rolly was still not happy, so Allison promised to show him a place where animals were happy on Easter. So after dinner, Allison took Rolly to the zoo to see animals having a good time. So, Allison accompanied with her family took Rolly to the St. Louis Zoo. Rolly was amazed at all the animals enjoying Easter, he could barely believe it. He could barely believe there were animals so much bigger than himself. He took a picture next to one of the biggest animals in existence, the giant squid. He enjoyed visiting the zoo so much he forgot how much he hated Easter and he almost did not want to go back to SIU.

Con goes to Marion with Michelle

Con took a short, but eventful trip to Marion with Michelle. During his time in Marion he got to spend a lot of time with Michelle's 6 year old, Kristen. She even took him for show and tell at school where she explained his purpose by telling the class, "My Mom is going to be a teacher. I want to be a teacher someday too so I can take my stuffed animals around with me like she does."

When I asked my kids where we should take Con to have his picture taken they all thought that he would like to have his picture taken, "at the tank". I'm not sure why my kids are fascinated by this tank that sits in front of the VFW in Marion, but they are, so that is where we took Con to have his picture taken. You have to look closely because Kristen is holding on to Con so tightly, but he is in the picture.

Con traveled 40.14 miles from Wham to my home in Marion, to Lincoln Elementary for show and tell, to the VFW to have his picture taken and back again. Con's Total Miles Traveled Thus Far: 10,859.65 Latitude 37.755585N Longitude 88.932738W

Sara and Rolly's Trip to New Orleans!

Rolly left Wham with me to head home to Peoria, IL for a night before we traveled back south down 55 to New Orleans, LA. Rolly enjoyed this road trip with myself and 8 other fellow teachers. Throughout this week Rolly went with us to the French Quarter Festival in downtown New Orleans where we got to try all sorts of different foods and see lots of artwork. Rolly also joined us to paint a house on Monday, work at the Children's Museum on Tuesday and went to the ACEI teaching conference Wednesday and Thursday! On Thursday after the conference we went to Joseph A. Craig Elementary school where we met up with a SIU Alumni and donated over 60 pairs of black shoes to the school. This school is in a low income part of New Orleans and some of the students do not have the money to buy shoes for their school uniforms. Rolly is inside the shoe in the picture but is not very well seen.
